I have a question, are you doing new Doctor Who and classic Doctor Who as one fandom like fanfiction.net or two like for AO3? I wanted to nominate classic Doctor Who.

I also want to point out that if you put the settings on fanfiction.net to English, ratings all and >1000 words there is less then 20,000 for Doctor Who overall.

Hi. I need to discuss this with my co-mod (we're on different continents), but I wanted to let you know your comment has been seen. We shall get back to you as soon as we can.

Okie dokie. I honestly don't care if new Who is ruled still a mega fandom. It is really only classic I care about. I just thought mentioning the looking for English fics over 1000 words being less than 20,000 might help my case. If it helps classic has 444 fics on AO3 as opposed to new's 2,574.

Thanks for discussing it and looking it over.

We discussed it over and we are going to treat them like two different fandoms with new Who (Doctors 9 through current) as a megafandom while classic Who is eligible.

Thank you so much! The second I heard about this exchange I immediately went to classic Who.

Can I ask you about all of the Treks? You've already said TNG and ENT will qualify (Yay!) and I'm guessing Voyager probably will too, since it's about equivalent size? How about TOS and Reboot? TOS has 7k on AO3 and 4k on ff.net, and Reboot has 5k on AO3 and 8k on ff.net - but in both cases, I think you can safely say there's a ton more than that out there. And DS9 is the one I'm really wondering about - it's yuletide eligible, so I don't know if you'd discount it on those grounds, but it is one of the bigger yuletide fandoms, and honestly, it's not exactly tiny.

(Sorry to be a pain, but I want to pimp this to my flist, and Treks will be a selling point!)

As far as Jenn and I know, unless someone steps forward with information that disproves otherwise (including information regarding TNG and ENT), Voyager, TOS, and Reboot are eligible. DS9 was the only Trek eligible for the most recent Yuletide so I won't out right say one way or another right now. DS9 will be more of a "ask again in a couple of months" as it was allowed within Yuletide due to elynross' comment here and there's still plenty of time for the fandom to grow (or not).

Don't worry, you're not a pain at all. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate in asking.

I have the dumbest of dumb questions: Transformers. This fandom has a bunch of microcontinuities: I see you've listed the Bay movies as A-OK. I presume G1 is off limits, but I am wondering about Transformers Prime and Transformers IDW. AO3 is easy to check but FFN doesn't really distinguish so...I'm just curious before I sign up!

Not a dumb question at all! I just got home from work, so this is rough and quick, but as far as I can see, neither Prime nor IDW count as megafandoms and both Prime and IDW have over 200 stories on AO3 over 1000 words. As long as it's a) not a megafandom with over 20,000 stories in it, and has either over 200 stories on AO3 over 1000 words or 1000 completed in English stories on FFN over 1000 words (or another archive/LJ/site exceeding Yuletide requirements), it's eligible for Not Prime Time.

Fanfiction.net has a pull-down tab that splits the Transformers under World: All to find a specific Transformers fandom.

is 'the hobbit' included in 'lord of the rings'?

Probably a stupid question, but is Legend of Korra still okay, then, even with A:TLA being on the banned list?

Not a stupid question at all! I just double checked on both AO3 and FFN, and Legend of Korra is still eligible. However, the characters that are eligible are the ones that are only available in Korra, not in A:TLA (so no Korra or Aang even though they're in both, as an example).

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification!

I just realized I made a mistake. Korra the character is eligible. I meant Katara is not eligible. Sorry for the confusion!

What's your stance on fandoms in different media? The fandom in particular being the Hobbit - the movies are at 10.7k on AO3, books-only on AO3 are 6k, and ff.net has 10k (listed in books, but probably also containing a lot of movie fic), but it's probably hard to draw a clear distinction what fic belongs where given tagging conventions in that fandom. All Media Types on AO3 is 18k. Thoughts?

I'd probably split it. So if All Media Types hits 20k and someone reports it, it'll get put onto the megafandom list but the movies (separately) and the books (separately) would be safe until they also grow into 20k plus.

I'm interested in signing up, but I have a quick question. Are you lumping CSI: Miami and CSI: NY in with CSI?

CSI: Miami and CSI: NY are separate from CSI, and they're both eligible for nominations.
